ITS Bar Skills Update Regarding COVID-19

ITS is committed to the health and safety of our team, students and all venues represented in our courses. While we’re waiting to understand the full effects of COVID-19, we are monitoring and following advice by relevant government departments and will provide updates via this post and our Facebook page.

Health and hygiene is a key consideration in the hospitality industry, which is why the accredited (SITXFSA001)Use Hygienic Practices for Food Safety training is included in our Bar Skills Training Course.

ITS COVID-19 Response

Update – 2nd June 2020

Great news! With the further relaxing of restrictions, in person training for all courses is now resuming, with dates secured for most venues and more to follow in the coming days.

To help support those needing RMLV certification, we will continue to run RMLV training in both online and in-person, to ensure you have as many training options as possible.

Update – 6th May 2020

We’re pleased to advise we are now offering remote RMLV training online. When doors reopen, hospitality will need you! Renew or obtain your Responsible Management of a Licensed Venue certification via Zoom with our accredited trainers. Conducted in a convenient one day format, our online course is discounted to $300. Visit our RMLV page to view upcoming courses and book your virtual spot.

All you need is a computer or tablet, reliable internet access, microphone, webcam or speakers/headphone and a quiet place to have access for the day. We’ve had great feedback from our online courses, what a blessing technology is in this climate. If you have any questions, get in touch with the team.

Update – 23rd March 2020

Following today’s closure of venues until otherwise advised by the government, most ITS courses are now postponed.

Some RMLV courses will still be running in small numbers, to assist with compliance requirements.

Please contact us with any questions or to be advised of when your preferred training option can be scheduled.

  • We will continue post relevant updates to our website and on Facebook
  • Additional hygiene measures are being implemented in all courses to ensure the health of all participants. As our courses are already conducted in small group settings, they are currently deemed as being lower risk in current health advice.
  • If you are booked in one of our courses, please contact us to reschedule if you
    • Have been in any of the declared zones in the past two weeks;
    • Have been in contact with anyone who has been travelling in those zones, or concerned you have been in contact with anyone who has Coronavirus, or;
    • You have the slightest sniffle, cold or other flu-like symptoms.
  • We will gladly work with you to reschedule or refund your course where needed, to maintain your health and the health of other course participants. To help us best assist you, please contact us at least 24hours prior to your course commencement wherever possible.

 

Current Govt Health Recommendations

Protect yourself and others. To prevent the spread of viruses, practise good hygiene and social distancing where possible.

Good hygiene includes:

  • Cover coughs and sneezes with your elbow or a tissue
  • Dispose of tissues properly
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, including before and after eating and after going to the toilet
  • Use alcohol-based hand sanitisers regularly
  • Clean and disinfect surfaces
  • If you are sick, avoid contact with others and stay more than 1.5 metres away from people
  • Avoid shaking hands with people

More about Social Distancing:

health.gov.au advises social distancing to help slow the spread of the virus.

  • Stay at home if you are unwell
  • Avoid large public gatherings if they’re not essential
  • Keep a distance of 1.5 metres between you and other people whenever possible
  • Minimise physical contact, especially with people at higher risk such as older people, and those with existing health conditions

COVID-19 Advice for Hospitality Venues

As sporting events and gatherings are suspended across the country and the USA has responded by closing hospitality venues across New York, Australian venues are feeling the threat of considerable loss of business. CCIQ have prepared a number of resources to support SME’s affected, including recovery packages, employer guides, cost cutting strategies and coronavirus workplace policies and templates.

  • Waiving application fees for some variations to liquor licences
  • Waiving registration fees for Inbound Tour Operators
  • Waiving of Daily Fees for Commercial Activity Agreements & Permits
  • Rebate on Marina Charges and Passenger Levies
  • Deferral of Tourism Lease Rent Payment.
